Chairperson for the National Democratic Party (NDP), Madam Betty Akuffo-Amoabeng has urged voters to look beyond the known heavyweights in Ghanaian politics and open themselves to new political experiences.
Speaking on Plan B FM’s morning show, Madam Akuffo-Amoabeng emphasized the need to establish a political balance in the country and urged citizens to shift from the old order of backing the same old parties always during general elections.
She stressed that Ghana’s two largest political parties; the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have grown a sense of entitlement to political power and have approached pressing national development issues with a poor sense of urgency over these past years.
In her affirmation of the role of lesser-fancied political parties in Ghana’s socio-economic advancement, Mrs Akuffo-Amoabeng insisted, “You cannot say small parties are not relevant to Ghana, we may not win the ultimate yet but we can influence policies gradually as we grow our followership in a steady manner”.
