Ex-Players Have Failed Kotoko Administratively – Joseph Hendricks

Former Asante Kotoko Captain Joseph Hendricks has thrown his support behind his former club to participate in the CAF Champions League competition.

The Porcupine Warriors confirmed their participation in the 2020/21 edition of the CAF Champions League competition. This was contained in a letter dated September 7, 2020 and signed by the club’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nana Yaw Amponsah and sent to the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

However, the former centre-back believes experience and determination on the part of the players will be key in their quest to be champions of Africa for the third time.

In an interview with Tema-based radio station, Plan B FM on the Ka Wadwen sports show, the former Ashanti Gold defender said, “it’s a step in the right direction” for Kotoko to represent Ghana in Africa.

“When you are talking about the CAF Champions League, Kotoko and Hearts are already Champions League clubs.”

“I think Kotoko should be in Africa no matter what, that is where they belong”, he said

“The current players need to train hard and be disciplined, if they want to achieve something in Africa”, he concluded.

Joseph Hendricks also lauded the appointment of Nana Yaw Amponsah as the club’s new CEO, who he believes, has the ability to turn around the fortunes of the club.

“I think Nana Yaw Amponsah will do a great job, and I will wish him well”

The former Black Stars defender also disclosed that he is open to serving the Porcupine Warriors at the administrative level if given the opportunity, but he blames his former teammates who have already been presented with the opportunity for not doing enough to bring back glory days.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko represented Ghana in the CAF Champions League in the 2019/20 season and have been given the chance to compete again following the cancellation of the 2019/20 football season due to the coronavirus pandemic.
