The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has rescued 12 occupants of a Benz Sprinter bus involved in a road traffic accident on the Atibie–Nkawkaw Road in the Eastern Region.

The incident occurred on Monday, November 2, 2026, after the Mpraeso Fire Station received a distress call at 3:54 p.m.

A rescue team led by ADO II Amoako was dispatched two minutes later and arrived at the scene at 4:04 p.m.

According to the GNFS, the team conducted a search and confirmed that all 12 occupants of the vehicle, with registration number GT 5998-21, were safe.

The firefighters also retrieved personal belongings and a car carrier that had fallen into a pit using a rope.

The driver reportedly attributed the accident to brake failure, which left the front compartment of the vehicle damaged.
