Eight people have been killed and 21 others rescued following a fatal collision involving an Ivorian passenger bus and a parked Burkinabè bus at Azuletti, near Samenye, along the Elubo–Takoradi Highway.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Elubo, said the accident occurred on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at about 7:26 p.m.
According to the Service, the Ivorian bus, with registration number AB-415-AN, was travelling towards Benin when it rammed into the rear of the Burkinabè bus, registered KJA-5604J, which was parked and obstructing one lane of the highway.

The collision claimed eight lives, with seven victims pronounced dead at the scene and another dying later at the hospital.
Preliminary investigations suggest that speeding may have contributed to the accident.
The GNFS said 21 passengers were rescued and the injured were transported to the nearest hospital for medical attention.
The bodies of the deceased were subsequently handed over to the police.
The report was issued by the Public Relations Officer of the GNFS in the Western Region on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
