The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in charge of Marketing and Special Duties, Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, has asked the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, to intervene over difficulties he says he has faced in securing timely access to the Authority’s Chief Executive Officer, Maame Efua Houadjeto, for official consultations.
In a letter dated October 22, 2026, Mr Aggrey said repeated difficulties in arranging meetings with the CEO had affected his ability to obtain timely guidance, approvals and decisions on urgent operational matters.
He said the situation had caused delays in operations, stakeholder engagements and the implementation of key assignments under his responsibility for domestic tourism, special events and marketing.
According to Mr Aggrey, he had on several occasions requested meetings through the CEO’s secretary or personal assistant but was informed that she was unavailable.
While acknowledging the demands on the CEO’s schedule, he said the recurring difficulty had created a communication gap that required attention in the interest of effective management and institutional efficiency.
“My intention is not to make a personal complaint, but to highlight a communication gap that needs to be addressed in the interest of effective management and institutional efficiency,” he wrote.
Mr Aggrey asked the Minister, with the knowledge of the GTA Board Chairperson, to establish a more effective arrangement for communication and consultations between the CEO and his office, particularly on urgent official matters.
He said he remained committed to working professionally with the CEO and the Authority’s management team to achieve the Ministry’s objectives and improve the performance of the GTA.
