The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of an 11-year-old girl, Blessing Innocent, at Gomoa Buduburam in the Central Region.
The suspects, identified as 40-year-old autobody sprayer Kingsley Ozor and his 19-year-old apprentice, Jeffery Otaigbe, were arrested on October 20, 2026, following investigations into the girl’s disappearance.
According to a police press release dated October 21, 2026, with reference number CERHQ/PAU.14/PR/VOL.1/31, the case was reported to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVSU) of the Gomoa Buduburam District Police on Monday, October 19, at about 12:40 p.m.
The victim’s mother reported that her daughter had been missing since Saturday, October 17.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased had visited the two suspects, who are her neighbours, at about 8:30 a.m. on October 17. That was reportedly the last place she was seen before her disappearance.
Police said further investigations led to the arrest of the suspects, who admitted during interrogation that the girl had been with them on the day she went missing.
According to the police, subsequent investigations indicated that Otaigbe allegedly lured the girl into an uncompleted building near an estate community, where he sexually abused her before realising that she was no longer alive.
The suspect subsequently led investigators to a location where the girl’s body had been concealed beneath some shrubs.
Police recovered the body and conveyed it to the morgue at St. Gregory Catholic Hospital. Arrangements are underway for an autopsy at the Police Hospital.
Both suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
The Central East Regional Police Command commended the Gomoa Buduburam District Police for their efforts in apprehending the suspects and assured the public that crimes of this nature would be dealt with swiftly to ensure that those found culpable face the full rigours of the law.
