The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has engaged authorities at the Noé Border Post in Côte d’Ivoire to strengthen cross-border cooperation in the fight against illicit drug trafficking along the Elubo border.
The working visit, held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, formed part of the Commission’s efforts to deepen collaboration and promote a stronger working relationship between Ghanaian and Ivorian border security authorities.
Leading the NACOC delegation, Director-General Major General Maxwell Obuba Mantey called for sustained cooperation between the two countries to curb drug trafficking and related criminal activities.
Maj. Gen. Mantey was accompanied by his Deputy Director-General in charge of Enforcement, Control and Elimination, Lawyer Alexander Twum-Barimah, and other members of the Commission’s management.
He appealed to the Ivorian border security authorities to maintain their commitment to a common goal of suppressing illicit drug activities and strengthening border security.
The NACOC Director-General also assured the Ivorian authorities that the Commission, together with other state security agencies operating under the Elubo Border Security Committee (BORSEC), would uphold the professional and ethical standards guiding their operations.
“We appreciate the existing working relationship among both BORSEC authorities. For NACOC, we are committed to ensuring that the drug trafficking network is curtailed,” he said.
For his part, the Commissioner of Customs at the Ivorian Border Post, Avon Tah Felix, commended the NACOC delegation for the visit, describing it as an important step towards building and maintaining a cordial working relationship between the two sides.
He assured the delegation of the Ivorian border authorities’ continued support in protecting the interests of both countries.
The engagement underscores the importance of cross-border collaboration in tackling illicit drug trafficking and strengthening security along the Ghana-Côte d’Ivoire border.
