The Ghana Education Service (GES) has confirmed that salary adjustments and promotion arrears have been paid to 56,003 teachers following their promotions.

In a statement issued on Friday, October 16, 2026, the GES said 49,725 teachers received their payments on October 15, together with arrears dating back to January 1, 2026.

The remaining 6,278 teachers were paid in September 2026, bringing the total number of teachers who have received their promotion-related payments to 56,003.

The Service further disclosed that outstanding cases have been fully processed and are awaiting the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) to reopen its portal for validation and payment.

According to the GES, the CAGD temporarily closed its system on October 7 to facilitate the processing of supplementary payments and October salaries.

Management explained that the outstanding payments would be completed once the CAGD reopens the system to enable the remaining validation and payment processes to proceed.

The GES expressed appreciation to stakeholders who supported the process, particularly the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, teacher unions, and the CAGD.

The statement was signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at the Ghana Education Service.
