President John Dramani Mahama is expected to cut the sod for the construction of an all-new ultra-modern Accra Convention Centre in the coming weeks, the latest investment by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).
The announcement was made by the Minister in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, in a Facebook post on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
The 81,422-square-metre facility will be located at the Trade Fair Centre and is expected to include a 3,000-seater main conference hall, a Presidential Hall for high-level meetings and four large auditoriums.
The project will also feature other modern amenities intended to support conferences and other major events.
The Accra Convention Centre forms part of SSNIT’s latest investments in infrastructure, with the facility expected to provide a major venue for high-level local and international conferences when completed.
