The Ministry of Sports and Recreation, in collaboration with the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has constituted a five-member committee to assess and recommend the next head coach of the Black Stars.
The committee, announced by Sports Minister Kofi Iddie Adams, is chaired by former Ghana Football Association Vice President Fred Pappoe.
Former Black Stars captain and coach Anthony Baffoe, former captain Stephen Appiah, Faisal Chibsah and lawyer Agbesi Dzakpasu are the other members.
According to the Minister, the committee has been tasked with assessing potential candidates and making a recommendation on the next coach of Ghana’s senior national team.
The committee is expected to submit its report by Friday, October 9, 2026.
In announcing the move, Kofi Adams said the initiative forms part of efforts by the Ministry and the GFA to rebuild confidence in Ghana football.
“As promised, I will keep you updated on the steps we are taking to rebuild confidence in our football,” the Minister wrote on X.
He added: “Your love for Ghana football drives this work. Together, we can rebuild.”
The formation of the committee comes amid growing scrutiny of the Black Stars’ recent performances and calls for changes to the management of the national team.
The committee’s recommendation is expected to inform the next step in the appointment of a new Black Stars coach.
