The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will on Thursday, October 8, 2026, hear the Senegalese Football Federation’s appeal against the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation over the outcome of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.
The closed-door hearing will take place at CAS headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, with proceedings scheduled to begin in the morning.
No media representatives will be allowed into the hearing because none of the parties involved requested a public hearing.
Representatives of the Senegalese Football Federation and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation are expected to attend the proceedings in person, while CAF will be represented by its legal team.
The three-member CAS panel will be chaired by French professor Gérald Simon, with Professor Luigi Fumagalli of Italy and Professor Dr. Ulrich Haas of Germany serving as the other panel members.
The proceedings will be conducted in French and are expected to continue into the afternoon, after which the panel will begin its deliberations.
CAS has, however, confirmed that no ruling will be delivered on the day of the hearing. The sports tribunal has also not set a date for announcing its final decision.
The dispute stems from the AFCON 2025 final between Senegal and Morocco, played at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat on January 18, 2026.
CAF subsequently recorded Senegal as having forfeited the match and awarded Morocco a 3-0 victory, a decision the Senegalese Football Federation has challenged before CAS.
The CAS ruling will determine whether CAF’s decision to award Morocco the victory stands or whether the official outcome of the AFCON final will be revised.
