The Ghana Education Service (GES) has described as fake a notice circulating on social media asking incoming Senior High School (SHS) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) boarding students to make payments for an EduPack containing boarding items.
The notice, which claims to be supported by the GES, instructs parents and students to pay for items including mattresses, pillows, plastic chop boxes and trunks or suitcases through specified payment channels.
However, the GES has urged the public to disregard the notice, stressing that it does not originate from the Service.
The development comes as GES continues to caution the public against fake notices and information circulating on social media. The Service has previously debunked similar fraudulent communications and advised the public to rely on its official communication channels for accurate information.
Parents and prospective SHS and TVET students are therefore advised not to make any payments based on the circulating EduPack notice and to verify any such information through official GES channels before taking action.
The GES remains responsible for the implementation of approved national education policies and the administration of pre-tertiary education in Ghana.
