Thomas Aryetey demands clarity on distribution of education funds

Thomas Aryetey demands clarity on distribution of education funds
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Thomas Aryetey, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on the Minister for Education to provide Ghanaians with a comprehensive update on the disbursement of education-related funds, saying the public deserves clarity on whether the money was released and why some intended beneficiaries are yet to receive it.

Speaking on EBAANOSEN on Plan B FM with host Ohene Kennah, Mr. Aryetey suggested that the funds may have been released but failed to reach all beneficiaries on time due to challenges within the disbursement process. He noted that if some recipients have received their allocations while others have not, it points to possible delays or inefficiencies that require urgent attention.

He stressed that transparency and accountability must remain central to the management of public funds, particularly those earmarked for education. Mr. Aryetey urged the relevant authorities to investigate the matter and provide accurate information to reassure the public and dispel any uncertainty.

According to him, investments in education are investments in the country’s future, as today’s students will become tomorrow’s leaders. He emphasized that ensuring education funds are distributed effectively and fairly is critical to Ghana’s long-term development.

Mr. Aryetey concluded by expressing concern over reports that some intended beneficiaries have not received the funds despite claims that the money has been released. He called for a more efficient and equitable distribution system to ensure every eligible beneficiary receives the support intended for them.
