The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations has directed the management of Ghana Digital Centres Limited (GDCL) to immediately reverse its decision to temporarily suspend the employment contracts of all staff.
In a statement issued on July 1, 2026, the Ministry said it had taken note of a circular issued by GDCL announcing the temporary suspension of staff contracts pending a comprehensive assessment of the Centre, with the directive expected to take effect immediately.
The Ministry said it takes a strong view of the decision and has instructed GDCL’s management to rescind the directive without delay. It further advised all affected staff to disregard the suspension notice.
According to the Ministry, the directive comes at a time when many staff members have been personally affected by the devastating floods of June 29. It reaffirmed its support for employees of the Centre and staff across all its agencies during the difficult period.
The Ministry also disclosed that the management of the Ghana Digital Centres Limited has been invited to a meeting on July 2, 2026, following the Minister’s visit to the facility on June 30 to assess the extent of the flood damage to the Centre and businesses operating from the premises.
The Ministry said the meeting will help determine the way forward as government works to address the impact of the floods while safeguarding the welfare of staff and ensuring the continued operations of the Centre.
