The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced multiple power outages across the Tema, Accra East and Accra West Regions on Thursday, June 4, 2026, resulting from network faults, a broken high-tension pole and technical challenges in the company’s distribution system.

In the Tema Region, a network fault has caused power outages affecting Buade, GCB Training School, Iron Bar, Kokobribri, Royal Ravico, Watch Tower, Junction Mall, Alton Hotel, Queensland International School, Ashaiman New Town, Booster Station, Christian Village, Clementina, Ashaiman Secondary School, Ashaiman District Circuit, Obonu FM, Casino, Community 1 Market, Maame Sekune, Site 2, Sethi Realty, Abodakpi Farms, Ghana Steel, Kpone Kokompe and surrounding areas. ECG assured affected customers that engineers are working to rectify the fault and restore supply.

In the Accra East Region, a broken high-tension pole at Comet ADB Estate has cut power to Agyemankata, Comet Estate Police Station, Comet Estate Hills and surrounding areas. Engineers have been deployed to the site to rectify the fault and restore supply.

The Accra West Region is also experiencing outages due to a technical challenge in the network, affecting Mamprobi, Camara, Interplast, Starwin, Pega Transport, Adabraka Rainbow, Adabraka Roman Boys, Odawna, Agbogbloshie Galaway and surrounding areas.

Planned maintenance for Friday

ECG has also announced planned and emergency maintenance exercises for Friday, June 5, 2026.

In the Accra East Region, planned maintenance will take place from 9:00am to 5:00pm, affecting Agbogba Junction, Wisconsin University, parts of North Legon and surrounding areas. The notice was originally issued on Wednesday, 3rd June.

Separately, emergency maintenance will be carried out from 9:00am to 4:00pm on Friday, affecting a wide range of communities including Kwesimoko, Benso, Hillcity, Besease, Achiase, Afransi, Gyaman, Kukurantumi, Abodom, Bobikuma, Kwaman, Eshiem, Kokofu, Tarkwa, Gomoa Oguaa, Odina, Gomoa Mankessim, Achias Number One, Akropong Number One and surrounding areas.

ECG has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to affected customers across all regions. The company has advised customers to report any electrical hazards and to treat all fallen power lines as live and dangerous.

Engineers are working to restore supply to fault-affected areas as quickly as possible, while customers in planned maintenance areas have been advised to make alternative arrangements for power-dependent activities during the specified hours.
