The National Association of Institutional Suppliers (NAIS) has announced plans to stage a peaceful picketing exercise at the Ministry of Education on June 11, 2026, over the government’s failure to settle outstanding payments owed to its members.
In a statement issued on June 3, 2026, the association said the action has become necessary due to the prolonged non-payment for the supply of uniforms, house dresses, and school cloths to public Senior High Schools under the Free SHS programme.
According to NAIS, its members have not received payments amounting to approximately GH¢50 million since 2023 despite several appeals to the relevant authorities. The association noted that the delay has created severe financial difficulties for suppliers and is threatening their ability to continue providing essential services to schools.
NAIS stated that the demonstration is intended to draw the government’s attention to the situation and demand the immediate release of funds owed to its members. The association expressed hope that the picketing exercise would highlight the urgency of the matter and lead to swift action by authorities.
The group has also appealed to the media to provide coverage of the event to help amplify its concerns and ensure that the issue receives the attention of key stakeholders.
The picketing is scheduled to take place at the Ministry of Education on June 11, 2026. NAIS says it expects the demonstration to remain peaceful as it presses for the settlement of the outstanding debt.
