An unidentified foreign national was crushed to death in an early morning accident on Sunday at Pedu Junction in Cape Coast.

The victim, whose name, nationality, age and other particulars are yet to be identified, was knocked down around 04:30 hours by a King Long Maxi bus with registration number GT 8277-25, carrying passengers from Accra towards Takoradi.

The victim, wearing his jogging outfit, attempted to cross the road from the driver’s side when the incident happened, the Central Regional Police Command reported in a statement.

He was rushed to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival and his remains have since been deposited at the facility’s morgue for preservation, autopsy and identification.

The driver, 47-year-old Essel George Aidoo, was arrested and detained to assist with investigations and his vehicle impounded, pending detailed examination and testing.
