Samuel Aborbi, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Kpone Katamanso Constituency, has expressed disappointment in President John Dramani Mahama for allegedly retaining contractors believed to be affiliated with the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
Speaking on Nkosuo Nsem on Plan B FM hosted by Kofi Sekyi, Aborbi stated that the award of government contracts during the NPP administration was largely done on partisan grounds, a situation he believes denied many competent contractors the opportunity to contribute to national development.
According to him, the current Mahama administration should not continue awarding contracts to individuals he described as beneficiaries of politically motivated contracts under the previous government, especially when there are other qualified and capable contractors available.
Despite his concerns, he commended President Mahama for demonstrating leadership without vindictiveness. He described the President as a unifier and a father for all, adding that his approach to governance would help foster national development and unity.
His comments come on the back of President John Dramani Mahama’s assurance that no community in Ghana will be excluded from the government’s national reset agenda.
Delivering his Eid-ul-Adha address to the nation at the Independence Square on Wednesday, May 27, President Mahama stated that the government remains committed to inclusive development across the country.
“No community will be left behind in this national reset agenda,” the President assured.
President Mahama explained that the government’s focus is on creating jobs, supporting local enterprises, expanding opportunities for the youth, and improving the living conditions of ordinary Ghanaians.
He highlighted key policy interventions such as the 24-Hour Economy initiative, skills development programmes, apprenticeship schemes, and the industrial transformation agenda as measures aimed at creating sustainable employment opportunities for young people.
According to the President, these initiatives form part of a broader national reset agenda intended to promote inclusive growth and national development.
