The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with an armed robbery attack at the Kwafokrom GOIL Filling Station near Nsawam in the Eastern Region.
The suspects, identified as Amos Boame and Collins Adjei, were arrested following the robbery incident which occurred on Sunday, May 24, 2026. According to the police, another suspect known only as Ashivie is currently on the run and is being pursued for his alleged involvement in the attack.
In a press release signed by DSP David Fianko-Okyere of the Public Affairs Unit, police disclosed that several exhibits were retrieved from the suspects, including a pump-action gun with serial number 245A-12944, an electronic shocker, a cutlass and a bulletproof vest.
Police said the suspects shot a security guard and a pump attendant who had taken refuge in an office during the robbery. The attackers reportedly made away with GH¢13,460 and assorted provisions whose value is yet to be determined.
A police inspection at the scene also uncovered 19 spent cartridges and one live round of ammunition. The victims are currently in stable condition receiving treatment.
The Police Command noted that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accomplices and bring them to justice.
Residents have meanwhile been urged to remain calm as police, in collaboration with management of filling stations in the area, intensify security measures to prevent further incidents.
