The Complaints Officer of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) Tema Region, Madam Alberta Bosomtwe, has urged employers to strictly comply with pension laws by ensuring the timely remittance of workers’ pension contributions.
Speaking on Plan B FM’s Ebaanosen with Ohene Kinnah, Madam Bosomtwe warned that employers who fail to remit pension contributions after deducting them from workers’ salaries risk facing penalties and legal consequences.
Her comments follow growing concerns by the NPRA over reports of employers defaulting on pension payments despite making deductions from employees’ salaries.
Madam Bosomtwe emphasized that pension contributions are critical to securing the future of workers and called on employers to respect the provisions of the National Pensions Act, 2008 (Act 766).
She also encouraged employees to actively monitor their pension contributions and promptly report any irregularities to the appropriate authorities.
According to her, the NPRA remains committed to protecting workers’ rights and ensuring compliance within Ghana’s pensions sector.
