EPA intercepts smuggled cyanide in anti-galamsey operation at Nkroful

56 illegal miners arrested in Tarkwa-Nsuaem crackdown
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has confiscated a large quantity of smuggled cyanide during an anti-galamsey operation at Nkroful in the Western Region.

The seizure forms part of ongoing efforts by authorities to clamp down on illegal mining activities and the unauthorized use of hazardous chemicals in mining communities.

Officials say the intercepted cyanide was suspected to be intended for illegal mining operations, posing a serious threat to human health and the environment.

The EPA reaffirmed its commitment to working with security agencies to intensify the fight against galamsey and ensure offenders are brought to justice.
