Transport key to success of 24-hour economy — Michael B. Teye

Transport key to success of 24-hour economy — Michael B. Teye

The proposed 24-hour economy initiative, dubbed “Operation 133,” goes far beyond factories and industrial production, according to Mr. Michael B. Teye.

Speaking on Plan B FM’s Ebaanosen hosted by Adom De Star Boy, Mr. Teye explained that the policy is designed to cover every sector of the economy, including transportation, with the ultimate aim of creating massive employment opportunities.

He noted that many people have misunderstood the concept, believing it is only focused on manufacturing and large-scale industries. However, he stressed that for the policy to achieve its intended impact, all sectors must be integrated into the system.

“Operation 133 is not only based on industries and factories,” Mr. Teye stated. “It covers transport and all parts of the economy.”

Highlighting the role of transportation, he explained that a reliable 24-hour transport system would significantly boost economic activity and create jobs. According to him, with adequate security measures in place, people should be able to travel safely at any time of the day or night, allowing businesses and services to operate continuously.

Mr. Teye said such a system would create employment for drivers, dispatchers, security personnel, mechanics, and other support workers, while also enabling small businesses, healthcare workers, and service providers to function efficiently after dark.

He emphasized that job creation remains the core objective of the 24-hour economy policy and called on policymakers to prioritize security and supporting infrastructure to ensure its success.
