GWCL Announces Nationwide Water Rationing
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Residents in several parts of western Accra are expected to experience erratic water supply and low water pressure following technical challenges at the Weija Water Treatment Plant, Ghana Water Ltd (GWL) has announced.

In a press release dated May 13, 2026, the company said the challenges have affected water production and distribution to a number of communities across the capital.

Areas expected to be affected include Dansoman, Mamprobi, Mataheko, Laterbiokorshie, Korle-Bu, La Paz, MacCarthy Hill, Gbawe, Mallam, Tesano, Darkuman, North Kaneshie, Dome, Achimota, Anyaa, Ablekuma and surrounding communities.

GWL assured the public that its engineers and technical teams are working to resolve the problem and restore normal water supply as soon as possible.

The company further advised residents to store water whenever there is flow in their communities to help manage the temporary disruption.

Essential service providers have also been encouraged to liaise with their Assembly Members or contact the GWL Call Centre for assistance.

Ghana Water Ltd apologised for the inconvenience caused and appealed to customers to remain calm while efforts continue to fix the situation.
