Debibi United secure historic Ghana Premier League promotion after victory over Tamale City

Debibi United Football Club has officially qualified to compete in the 2026-2027 Ghana Premier League campaign after gaining promotion from the Access Bank Division One via a playoff win over Tamale City FC.

Debibi United beat Tamale City 3-1 on the back of a hat-trick of goals from Kwadwo Antwi scored in the 33rd, 38th and 43rd minute respectively in the first half.

Both teams topped their respective groups in the minor league’s Zone One setting up the big clash that was played out at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday, May 13.

Beating Tamale City ensured that Debibi United completed the set of promoted teams from Division One compete in the Ghana Premier League next season.

Kukurantumi-based Port City FC qualified from Zone Three while FC AshantiGold 04 secured qualification to the elite division from Zone Two.

With two games left to play in the Ghana Premier League, Hohoe United and Eleven Wonders have been relegated.
