Black Sherif affirmed his dominance in Ghana’s music industry after emerging as the biggest winner at the 27th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The “Iron Boy” crooner capped off an extraordinary night by winning the prestigious Artiste of the Year award, cementing his place as one of Ghana’s most influential music stars of his generation.

Beyond claiming the ceremony’s top honour, Black Sherif dominated multiple categories, making the night largely his own.

He secured Album of the Year with his acclaimed project Iron Boy, while also taking home Songwriter of the Year, Afropop Song of the Year for “Sacrifice,” and Hip-Hop Song of the Year for “Where Dem Boys.”

The latest triumph marks Black Sherif’s second Artiste of the Year victory, having first won the coveted title in 2023.

Several other artistes also enjoyed memorable moments during the awards night. Medikal recorded an impressive showing after winning Hiplife Song of the Year for “Shoulder,” Best Collaboration of the Year alongside Shatta Wale for the same song, and Best Hip-Hop Artiste of the Year.

Highlife star Kofi Kinaata also continued his strong run in the industry by winning both Highlife Song of the Year with “It Is Finished” and Highlife Artiste of the Year.

In the reggae and dancehall category, Stonebwoy successfully retained his Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year title, while gospel singer Diana Hamilton was crowned Gospel Artiste of the Year.

One of the emotional highlights of the evening came when legendary highlife musician Daddy Lumba was posthumously honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his immense contribution to Ghana’s music industry.
