Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has earned a late call-up to the Ghana national football team ahead of the Black Stars’ international friendly against Mexico on May 22, 2026.

The 11-capped Ghana international replaces Gidios Aseako of Dreams FC in coach Carlos Queiroz’s squad for the upcoming game.

Asare, who plays for Hearts of Oak, is expected to travel with the team for the friendly scheduled for Friday, May 22, as Ghana continues preparations toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The match against Mexico is expected to provide Queiroz with another opportunity to assess his squad and fine-tunepreparations ahead of the global football showpiece.
