AFCON U17: Black Starlets arrive in Morocco ahead of tournament

Ghana’s U17 team, the Black Starlets have arrived in Morocco ahead of the U17 Africa Cup of Nations.

The team travelled with a 21-player continent alongside 14 officials and will continue preparations ahead of the start of the competition.

The team is making a return to the tournament after close to a decade of absence since they finished second in Gabon in 2017.

“I’m very happy that when you lost to Ivory Coast in your first game during your friendly matches, you were able to come back—not only to dominate but to outscore them in the second game,” said FA president Kurt Okraku as he accompanied the team to the Accra International Airport on Wednesday morning.

“I read a lot of meaning into that, and I want all of you to keep that in your heads—that, it’s not over until it’s all over.

“When the chips are down, that’s when we need to hold each other together. So go out there and make Ghana proud.”

Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum will lead the players through the final stage of training as Ghana also eye a return to the FIFA U17 World Cup.

The two-time African champions have been drawn in Group D alongside Algeria, Senegal and South Africa.
