Man in viral Cape Coast assault video arrested

The Cape Coast Central Regional Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old man, Samuel Bills Acquah, for allegedly assaulting a 30-year-old woman.

According to a police statement dated March 29, 2026, and signed by Chief Inspector Isaac Evans Ettie of the Public Affairs Unit in Cape Coast, the suspect, who shares a child with the victim, was arrested at Bakano after a video of the alleged assault went viral.

The statement added that the incident occurred on March 27, 2026, at about 9:30 pm and confirmed that Acquah is currently in custody, assisting with investigations.

Gender Ministry condemns Cape Coast assault video, refers case to Police

He is expected to be arraigned before court on March 30, 2026, for prosecution.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has condemned the assault, describing it as cruel and unacceptable.

According to the ministry, violence in any form is punishable under Ghanaian law, citing relevant provisions under the Domestic Violence Act and the Criminal Offences Act.

The ministry also revealed that the case has been formally referred to the police for further action, adding that efforts to reach the victim have so far been unsuccessful.
