FIFA confirms squad size for 2026 World Cup, sets submission deadline

FIFA has confirmed that all teams participating in the 2026 World Cup will be required to submit a final squad of 26 players.

Ghana coach Otto Addo will have until May 31, 2026, to name his squad for the tournament, as preparations intensify ahead of the global showpiece in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The 26-player squad format, which was first expanded for recent tournaments, offers coaches greater flexibility in managing injuries, squad rotation, and tactical options throughout the competition.

For Ghana, the deadline marks a crucial point in the build-up, with players expected to stake their claim during upcoming international friendlies and club performances in the final stretch of the season.

The Black Stars have been drawn alongside Panama, Croatia, and England in the group stage and will be aiming to progress beyond the opening round.
