Akwesi Badu Melo, an NDC Communicator, has criticized commercial drivers for failing to reduce transport fares despite recent drops in fuel prices.
Speaking on Nkososem, a morning programme on Plan B FM, Mr. Melo said Ghanaians are often quick to increase prices during economic hardship but slow to adjust them downward when conditions improve.
According to him, while fuel prices have declined in recent weeks, transport operators have yet to reflect the reductions in fares, placing continued pressure on commuters.
He questioned whether the Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson, should have to “beg” Ghanaians to respond positively to economic improvements by adjusting prices accordingly.
Mr. Melo described the situation as a worrying pattern, urging stakeholders to act fairly and ensure that consumers benefit when macroeconomic indicators improve.
