The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has strongly condemned recent attacks on its personnel while they were carrying out their professional duties, describing the incidents as unacceptable and deeply concerning.

In a press release dated February 21, 2026, and signed by the Director-General, Dr. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, the Service reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of both staff and clients across its facilities.

According to the statement, while the GHS remains dedicated to delivering the highest standard of healthcare to patients, it equally expects its personnel to be treated with dignity and respect at all times.

“We stand firmly with our dedicated and hardworking staff who perform their duties professionally. We will not condone any act that compromises their safety, well-being, or ability to perform their duties effectively,” the statement emphasized.

The Service further condemned all forms of aggression, intimidation, or violence directed at health workers, stressing that such conduct will not be tolerated.

GHS assured the public that it is collaborating closely with relevant security agencies to strengthen protective measures within its facilities to maintain a safe and secure environment for both patients and staff.

“The safety of our team and those we serve remains our highest priority as a Service,” the statement concluded.
