Open NPP Elections to all members — Kwesi Poku rejects delegate system

Open NPP Elections to all members — Kwesi Poku rejects delegate system
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Kwesi Poku, Constituency Chairperson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Tema West, has called for a reform of the party’s delegate system, describing it as prone to vote buying and unfair internal contests.

Speaking on Ebaano Sen, an evening programme on Plan B FM, Mr. Poku argued that party elections should be open to all members, not just delegates, to ensure transparency and strengthen internal democracy.

He expressed disappointment in the behavior of some delegates, saying the current system allows monetary influence to shape outcomes. The discussion referenced broader party developments, including matters connected to MP Kennedy Agyapong.

Reforms are necessary to protect party unity and strengthen our democratic processes, Mr. Poku said, urging the party to consider changes that would give all members a voice in leadership selection.
