Nana Agradaa’s 15-year sentence slashed to one year

Nana Agradaa’s 15-year sentence slashed to one year
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The 15-year prison sentence imposed on controversial evangelist Nana Agradaa has been reduced to 12 calendar months, with the Amasaman High Court ruling that the original punishment was harsh and excessive.

In its decision, the court affirmed her conviction but exercised its discretion to vary the sentence, reducing it from the 15 years of hard labour earlier imposed by the trial court.

The revised sentence takes effect from July 3, 2025, the date of her conviction, meaning Nana Agradaa will serve a total of 12 months in prison.

The court held that although the offences for which she was convicted warranted punishment, the severity of the initial sentence was disproportionate under the circumstances, thereby justifying a downward adjustment.

Nana Agradaa, a former fetish priestess turned evangelist, was convicted of charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence.

She was found guilty of luring victims through a 2022 televised broadcast, during which she falsely claimed to possess spiritual powers capable of doubling money.

Her claims led several individuals to part with large sums of money in expectation of miraculous financial returns—promises that were never fulfilled.
