A tragic incident has struck Kwahu Bepong in the Kwahu South Municipality of the Eastern Region, where a JHS 2 pupil, identified as Ma’adwoa Michelle, has allegedly died by suicide.
According to family sources, Ma’adwoa was living with her grandmother and showed no signs of distress as of Tuesday evening. Her grandmother, who described the deceased as her first grandchild, said the last conversation she had with Ma’adwoa was after school while the pupil was doing her homework.
She explained that Ma’adwoa later went to her room to change and prepare to bathe, after which the grandmother retired to bed. Moments later, an aunt reportedly called, asking that Ma’adwoa pack some yams she had bought into a sack.
Becoming concerned when she could not find her granddaughter, the grandmother went to check on her and sadly found Ma’adwoa lifeless.
The police were promptly informed and have since taken custody of the body for further investigations.
The heartbreaking incident has cast a dark cloud over the Kwahu Bepong community, leaving family members, schoolmates, teachers, and residents in deep shock and mourning.
