Founding member of the New Patriotic Party Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has launched a blistering attack on the current leadership of the party, accusing it of being controlled by “looters” who, in his words, rose to power through thievery. He has flatly rejected plans to dismiss former Environment Minister Prof Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, daring the party to carry out the threat if it has the courage.
According to Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe, any attempt to expel Prof Frimpong-Boateng would expose what he described as the moral collapse of the party, insisting that the NPP has drifted far from the values of integrity, discipline and internal democracy on which it was founded.
His remarks follow a letter from the NPP General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, indicating that internal processes had been triggered to expel Prof Frimpong-Boateng over what the party described as anti-party comments made in a radio interview on Monday, January 12, 2026. The party said the former minister’s comments were highly reprehensible and harmful to its unity and integrity.
Speaking on TV3’s News Central, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe said he fully agreed with Prof Frimpong-Boateng’s assessment of the party and warned the leadership against targeting him for speaking uncomfortable truths.
“I listened to Prof Frimpong Boateng’s interview and I must say without fear that I agree with him entirely. The issues he raised are the same issues worrying the party,” he said.
He challenged the leadership to go further if it was determined to silence dissent.
“If they sack Frimpong-Boateng, then they should sack me. They should sack Kwame Pianim. They should sack Arthur Kennedy and many of us who have criticised the party even more,” he stated.
Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe escalated his criticism by accusing the current crop of leaders of hijacking the party and presiding over failure.
“Whoever thinks he can sack Frimpong-Boateng should try it. The party is now in the hands of looters. They have not performed. They came to power through thievery. We all know it,” he said, warning that founding members would resist any attempt to intimidate or silence them.
He urged the party to reflect on the substance of Prof Frimpong-Boateng’s comments rather than resorting to disciplinary threats, describing the former minister as a man of integrity and intellectual depth.
“Academically, he is solid. He is a man of integrity and a hard worker. If he says the party is fake, he knows why he says so. If I were them, I would have sat him down for a quiet discussion instead of this public posture,” he noted.
Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe concluded that the leadership’s response to the issue was evidence that the party was heading towards self-destruction, but insisted that founding members would not allow that to happen.
“This party was built by men of integrity and it will survive. We will make sure those destroying it are removed,” he said.
He further stressed that he would never resign from the NPP, reminding the leadership that the party was founded on freedom, justice and free expression.
“If Frimpong Boateng says the party is fake, he has not insulted anyone. He has exercised his right to free speech, which is one of the principles on which this party was founded,” he added.
