Focus on your clients, not your phones – business expert advises

Focus on your clients, not your phones – business expert advises

Christopher Adu Yamson, a renowned radio commentator, entrepreneur and marketer, has advised business owners and employees to pay closer attention to their clients in order to grow their businesses and retain customers.

He shared these insights on Plan B FM’s Drive Time Show on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. According to him, the key to every successful business is effective communication. He explained that communication goes beyond talking and includes attention to detail, appearance, positive attitude, smiles and the ability to listen to clients.

He stated, “Even God, in the inspection of creation, communicated with nature. But today, what we see are people who open their shops and stay on their phones all day, failing to acknowledge clients when they enter.”

According to him, this behaviour is gradually destroying many businesses. He noted that communication has two key components — the sender and the recipient — and that every business flourishes when both parties understand a common language, are willing to serve and are ready to receive.

Mr. Yamson concluded by advising both business owners and employees to leave domestic issues at home, focus on quality service delivery and use competitive pricing strategies to attract and retain more clients.
