The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, has disclosed that the extradition process against former Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) Chief Executive Officer, Sedina Tamakloe Attionu, has been completed, clearing the way for her return to the country to begin her prison sentence.

Dr Ayine made this known during the Government Accountability Series on Thursday, December 18, 2025.

Former MASLOC CEO Sedina Tamakloe sentenced to 10 years in jail for causing financial loss

He said the extradition process, which was initiated by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-led administration, has now been concluded.

“I did indicate to Parliament that in July 2024, a formal request for her extradition was put in by my predecessors, in other words by my office. The American authorities have worked on her extradition. The extradition proceedings have taken place in the US, and we’re expecting that barring any appeal by her lawyers, she may be very soon extradited to Ghana to serve her prison term,” he noted.

Dr Ayine added that although a substantive date has not been communicated for her return, US authorities have confirmed that the process has been completed.

“I don’t have any definitive information on when she will be extradited, but the Americans have indicated that they’ve completed the process,” he said.

Sedina Tamakloe Attionu was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment with hard labour after being convicted alongside former MASLOC Chief Operating Officer, Daniel Axim, who received a five-year sentence, also with hard labour.

The two were found guilty on 78 counts, including causing financial loss to the state, stealing, conspiracy to steal, money laundering, and causing loss to public property in breach of public procurement laws.
