Political analyst slams Justin Kodua’s performance as NPP General Secretary

Political analyst slams Justin Kodua’s performance as NPP General Secretary

Political analyst and financial engineer Dr. Alex Emmanuel Nti has criticised the performance of Justin Frimpong Kodua, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), describing his tenure as one of the weakest in the party’s history.

Speaking on the Ebaanosen show on Plan B 104.5 FM, Nti said Kodua has failed to match the standards set by previous NPP General Secretaries. He argued that past officeholders demonstrated stronger leadership and party organisation than the current secretary.

“You can’t compare Justin Kodua to Sir John or John Boadu,” Nti stated, insisting that the difference in performance is clear.

According to him, Kodua’s time in office will be remembered negatively, particularly because of what he described as missed opportunities while the party was in power.

“You couldn’t excel when you were in power, but now you are advising the country,” he said.

Nti also commented on internal party democracy, noting that political parties often do not fully reflect democratic principles internally. However, he stressed that once a party assumes national leadership, accountability to the public becomes essential.

“Political parties may not always operate with full democracy internally,” he explained. “But when you govern a country, the people must have a voice, and leaders must be accountable for their actions.”

He concluded by saying that although no political party is perfectly democratic, democratic values should guide governance once power is attained.

“There is no 100 percent democracy in any political party,” Nti said, “but when a party comes into power, democracy and accountability must prevail.”
