Mr. Michael B. Teye, a social commentator, speaking on the Ebaanosen show on Plan B 104.5 FM, has urged stakeholders to avoid generalizing that students performed poorly this year, noting that several factors contribute to academic challenges.
He highlighted poor traffic light infrastructure as one factor affecting students’ performance. He also emphasized the impact of social media, explaining that “students often prioritize social media over studies,” which divides their attention. He added, “Students want likes over marks,” underlining how online distractions can undermine academic achievement.
Mr. Teye called for concerted efforts to eliminate distractions and other barriers that negatively affect learning. He further stressed the importance of discipline, urging headmasters and directors of educational institutions to ensure both students and teachers maintain a disciplined learning environment.
