A carpentry shop at Tema Community 1 Site 17 was engulfed in flames on Thursday, November 14, 2025, sparking panic among residents after thick smoke was seen billowing from the structure. According to eyewitnesses, the shop owner’s child was inside the building moments before the fire intensified, but fortunately escaped unharmed.

The Ghana National Fire Service arrived promptly on the scene and managed to contain the blaze before it spread further. No deaths or injuries were recorded.

Residents say the fire nearly extended to a nearby residential building. In an attempt to prevent further damage, calls were made to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to disconnect the main power supply, however, the response reportedly delayed.

The cause of the fire remains unknown as investigations commence.

Speaking to plan b fm 12 pm news, Hon. Charles Amos, Assemblyman for Padmor Electoral Area in Tema Community 1, urged residents to prioritize safety and remain vigilant to prevent future fire outbreaks. He emphasized the need for proper handling of electrical appliances, flammable materials, and general fire safety practices.

Authorities are urging the public to remain calm as they work to determine the source of the blaze.
