“Toxic employees abuse employers” – Rev Kusi-Boadum

Rev. Kusi-Boadum Kwame of Graceway Fountain Ministries has condemned employees who exploit their employers by frequently playing truant, citing flimsy excuses, particularly those related to health issues.

Speaking on Plan B FM’s lifestyle programme, “Nyansapɔ Fie,” with host Nana Asabea, Rev. Kusi-Boadum described such employees as “toxic” and advised employers to steer clear of them.

He stressed the importance of recognising emotional abuse in the workplace, especially manipulative behaviour from abusive individuals.

“It’s crucial to acknowledge that abuse can take many forms, including emotional and psychological manipulation, and it’s not limited to physical harm,” he said.

Rev. Kusi-Boadum also highlighted the need for a conscious effort to address and prevent such behaviour, acknowledging that anyone can be an abuser, regardless of gender.

“Emotional abuse can be just as damaging as physical abuse, and it’s essential to create a safe and supportive work environment,” he emphasised.

Some indicators of emotional abuse in the workplace include:

– Belittling or humiliating comments
– Manipulation or gaslighting
– Unrealistic expectations or constant criticism
– Isolation or exclusion
– Micromanaging or controlling behaviour

If experiencing emotional abuse at work, Rev. Kusi-Boadum advised:

– Documenting incidents
– Seeking support from trusted colleagues or a supervisor
– Familiarising yourself with company policies and procedures
– Considering reporting incidents to HR or a designated authority
