Man killed in hit-and-run after ignoring footbridge on Pokuase–Accra Highway

Koforidua: Police Investigates Private School Over Death Of 7-year-old Pupil
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A tragic accident occurred this morning on the Pokuase–Accra highway, where a man was struck and killed by a speeding vehicle after allegedly attempting to cross the road instead of using the nearby footbridge.

Eyewitnesses reported that the victim tried to dash across the busy stretch when the vehicle, travelling at high speed, hit him instantly.

The driver fled the scene, leaving the victim lifeless on the road.

Police officers from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) arrived shortly after the incident and have taken the body to the station for further investigation.

The incident has reignited public concern about pedestrian safety and the continued disregard for footbridges on major highways in Accra.
