NCCE Warns Parents About Online Dangers Facing Children

NCCE Warns Parents About Online Dangers Facing Children
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has raised concerns about online safety for children.

Fidel Nii Akuffo Bortey, Tema West Municipal NCCE Director, and Gifty Agyeiwaa Badu, Tema Metro NCCE Director, emphasised the importance of parental guidance.

Speaking on Plan B FM’s Nyansapɔ Fie show, Bortey urged parents to monitor their children’s online activities and protect them from suspicious apps and links. “As parents, you need to always guard and guide children against the misuse of modern technology,” he stressed.

Ms Badu highlighted peer pressure as a factor contributing to children’s exposure to explicit content, including sextortion. She emphasised the need for parents and guardians to be aware of potential risks and take proactive steps to safeguard their children.

Collaborative efforts between parents, guardians, and educators can help children navigate the digital world safely and promote healthy online behaviours.
