Transport operators have suspended their planned strike over the stalled Pokuase-Nsawam road project, following assurances from the government. However, doubts remain about the project’s timely completion.
Speaking on Plan B 104.5 FM’s Ebanosen show, Matthew Kitcher, an NPP communicator, cautioned that calling off the strike does not guarantee the project’s completion. Kitcher emphasized the need for a non-partisan approach to infrastructure development, stating, “Roads, schools, and healthcare should not be used for politics.”
The Pokuase-Nsawam road, a critical artery connecting Greater Accra to the Eastern, Ashanti, and northern regions, has been plagued by delays. The government’s commitment to completing the project has yet to translate into tangible progress, leaving commuters and transport operators frustrated.
The strike’s suspension offers a temporary reprieve, but stakeholders will be closely monitoring the project’s progress. Will the government deliver on its promises, or will the Pokuase-Nsawam road remain a symbol of Ghana’s infrastructure challenges.
