Finance Minister Inaugurates Gold Board Tribunal

Finance Minister Inaugurates Gold Board Tribunal
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has inaugurated and sworn into office the newly constituted Gold Board Tribunal under the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025.

The tribunal has been set up as an ad-hoc appellate body to handle disputes and appeals arising from decisions of the Ghana Gold Board, including licensing matters and cases referred from the Dispute Resolution Committee.

At a brief ceremony in Accra, the Chairperson, Biadala Mortey Akpadzi, together with members Hamidu Mariam and Justin Pwavra Teriwajah, took the official oaths of office. The tribunal’s rulings carry the same legal weight as judgments of the High Court, although parties dissatisfied with its decisions may appeal to the Court of Appeal.

Dr. Forson said the establishment of the tribunal marked a major step towards enhancing transparency, accountability and fairness in the gold sector. He noted that the body would provide a vital balance between regulatory oversight and the protection of the rights of players in the mining industry.

The Finance Minister urged the newly sworn-in members to uphold the highest standards of integrity, impartiality and professionalism as they begin their work.
