The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has ordered an immediate suspension of the production of Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix by Nutrifoods Ghana Limited, citing significant health and safety violations at the company’s facility.

In a statement issued on Sunday, August 3, the FDA said the suspension follows an earlier directive for the recall of all canned Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix products, as well as specific batches of the product in 380g and 1.05kg pouches.
The regulatory body said the decision was prompted by numerous consumer complaints, which led to an inspection of the company’s operations.
According to the FDA, the investigation revealed poor maintenance of essential manufacturing equipment and a lack of adequate monitoring systems to ensure the safety and quality of the product.
The FDA said production will remain suspended until the company addresses the violations and implements corrective measures that meet the Authority’s standards.
It added that monitoring efforts would continue to ensure compliance and safeguard public health.
