Paul Adom-Otchere In OSP Custody Amid Corruption Probe

Paul Adom-Otchere In OSP Custody Amid Corruption Probe
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has formally charged former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Paul Adom-Otchere, along with two others, in connection with a controversial revenue assurance contract.

However, Mr. Adom-Otchere remains in custody after failing to meet his bail conditions.

According to officials, the OSP granted him bail on condition that he presents two landed properties registered in his name. Mr. Adom-Otchere, however, has informed investigators that he does not own any landed property in Ghana, making it impossible to satisfy the terms.

The two other individuals charged are Otchere Kwame Baffour Awuah, Group Executive for Commercial Services at GACL, and Albert Adjetey Adjei-Laryea, CEO of Devnest Systems.

The trio is being investigated over a revenue assurance contract between GACL and a private firm reportedly owned by the proprietor of Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML). The OSP is probing possible procurement breaches, including the sole-sourcing of a company not approved by the GACL Board.

Mr. Adom-Otchere was first invited for questioning on Thursday, July 31, after being named as a suspect in an official letter dated July 25, 2025.

Speaking to Citi Newsroom prior to his interrogation, the broadcaster and former board chairman acknowledged the summons but dismissed the investigation as politically motivated.

“I describe this as a witch-hunt,” he said, insisting he had no direct role in the execution of the contract. “The contract in question was signed by the Managing Director of Ghana Airports Company, and I was not even aware that the contract had been executed.”

He also questioned why the investigation appears to target him, rather than the GACL management officials who were directly involved in the decision-making process.

The OSP is expected to provide further details on the status of the investigation and possible court proceedings in the coming days.
