Ivory Coast Ends Ghana’s Dream Run In WAFU B U20 Boys Cup Semi-Final

Ivory Coast Ends Ghana’s Dream Run In WAFU B U20 Boys Cup Semi-Final

Ghana failed to make the final of the 2025 WAFU Zone B U20 Boys Cup on Sunday after losing 2-1 to Ivory Coast in their semi-final showdown.

The Black Satellites, as they are called, locked horns with the Young Elephants today at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, where the tournament is being played in Ghana to fight for a place in the final.

Ghana scored early through talented prodigy Benjamin Tsivanyo, but Ivory Coast pushed back and scored to make it 1-1 before the break.

After recess, a fierce battle ensued between the two teams in their bid to find the net to claim victory.

Defending champions Ivory Coast managed to score despite Ghana seeing a lot of the ball as the Young Elephants defended gallantly to cruise to a 2-1 win at full-time.

The victory sees Ivory Coast going through to the final and setting up a date with Nigeria while spoiling Ghana’s plan of winning the WAFU Zone B U20 Boys Cup on home soil.

Meanwhile, Ghana and Niger will also clash in the third-place playoff match.

Both the third-place playoff match and the final will be played on Wednesday, July 23.
