Dela Apetor, a communicator for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Speaking in an interview with Kofi Sakyi on Nkosuo Nsem on Plan B 104.5FM, Mr. Apetor emphasized that many people are languishing in prison despite being innocent, and the law provides a pathway for their release through a presidential pardon in consultation with the Council of State.

“Any Ghanaian has the right to petition for clemency if they believe someone has been wrongly jailed. citizen can act,” he stressed.

Mr. Apetor also cautioned against politicizing the issue of inmate pardons. He explained that wrongful convictions affect people from all walks of life and should not become a political tool. “Let’s not make this political. This is about justice and fairness, not party lines.
