NPP Pushes For Government Accountability

NPP Pushes For Government Accountability

James William Edem Tamakloe, a communicator for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tema West Constituency, is calling on government officials—particularly those aligned with the ruling party—to embrace transparency and eschew political protectionism in public office.

Speaking on Plan B FM’s Nkɔsoɔnsɛm programme with host Obidehyeɛ Kofi Sekyi, Tamakloe emphasized that public office must be treated as a national duty, not a partisan reward.

“When you’re called to serve, you must put away your political party card and do what is right,” he stressed. “After elections, there’s no room for campaign mode. It’s time to work.”

He went further to challenge the internal dynamics within the NPP, stating that loyalty to the party should never override the need for accountability.

“Executives like myself should not be shielded when we go wrong,” he asserted, sending a strong message that performance and integrity—not party affiliation—must define leadership.

His comments mark a notable call for reform within the political culture, highlighting a growing sentiment among citizens and some party loyalists that Ghana’s development hinges on principled leadership rather than political allegiance.

Tamakloe’s remarks suggest a willingness within some factions of the NPP to lead by example and reinforce democratic ideals through action rather than rhetoric.
